Welcome note

On behalf of the International Organizing Committee and Local Organizing Committee, it is a privilege and a pleasure to express to each of you our warmest welcome to Rome for the 5th World Congress on Electroporation and Pulsed Electric Fields in Biology, Medicine, and Food & Environmental Technologies (WC2024).

From 15 to 19 September 2024, the meeting will bring together scientists from different countries all over the world, across basic and applied science of electroporation and pulsed electric fields aiming to foster interdisciplinary interactions, present the latest achievements, and share cutting-edge knowledge. The Congress will start with an Educational Session open to young scientists and who want to deep more insight the electroporation world.

With exciting plenary talks and several parallel scientific sessions each day, as well as poster presentations, WC2024 will serve as a platform to showcase the advancements in electroporation-based technologies and applications. We have also curated a special program for students and young scientists, offering opportunities to broaden their scientific horizons, network, and exciting social experiences.

The Conference will be held at the Faculty of Engineering of Sapienza University of Rome, which is one of the oldest universities in the world, founded in 1303 by Pope Bonifacio VIII, and one of the most prestigious in Europe. The venue, situated in the historic centre of the city, directly overlooking the Colosseum, within walking distance of Piazza Venezia and the Roman Forum, provides a truly remarkable location. The Faculty develops around a magnificent Cloister which represents one of the most important examples of the Renaissance architecture in Rome and is next to the ancient Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli, which is home to one of the magnificent sculptures of Michelangelo, namely the marble statue of Moses (1513-1515).

Come to Rome, we are waiting for you!
